Shelton Lock Small Cars and Scooters was launched in 2001 by father and son Bob and Mick Potter, who have more than 40 years motor experience between them.

Bob explained 'We decided from the outset we would concentrate on small used cars under 1500cc such as Fiestas, Polos, Puntos, Corsas and Matiz.'

Prices range from £1,500 to £5,000 but all are high quality low mileage cars which must have covered under 60,000 miles and have a service history. All used cars are fully serviced and come with 12 months MOT to provide peace of mind for the buyer. Not only that, all cars sold undergo a 60 point inspection and carry our no-quibble warranty.

But the duo's commitment to top service, no pressure sales, along with friendly and professional advice doesn't end there. Buyers also become members of Bob and Micks lifetime after sales loyalty scheme, receiving a 20% discount off all work carried out on during ownership of any car or scooter.

The company is also an agent for the Microcar and Aixam, small four wheel cars which can driven on category B1 motorcycle licence.

Although very compact, the cars can accommodate two adults and two children.

To complement the low cost transport theme, Shelton Lock Small Cars and Scooters is also a dealer for competitively priced SYM scooters. These range from 50cc to 250cc and on the road prices start from £1,095.

All new SYM scooters come with a two year warranty and the company usually has a range of second-hand models in stock.

'SYM is partly owned by Honda and the Japanese influence means reliability is second to none', explained Mick. 'And it isn't a problem getting spare parts as the importers for the scooters are based in nearby Derby'.

'Scooters offer a good alternative to a second car when two people in a family both need transport', added Bob.

The beauty is that they still have a car when they want to go out together, while scooters offers really economic transport with road tax just£15 a year. Ride way packages can be fully financed by Black Horse Finance at competitive rates.

For as little as a £25 deposit you can ride away on a brand new scooter with the finance arranged clothing, helmet, insurance and any necessary training all included. Training is available with Easy Rider based in Alvaston. Scooters can be exchanged for Cars and vice-versa.
